Esther Power is an experienced solicitor who specialises in employment law.
Esther’s deep understanding of employment law has seen her work with a diverse range of clients, including international corporations, local businesses, senior-ranking executives, and employees who are entering their first employment positions. She recognises the importance of a tailored approach to suit the unique requirements of each client, ensuring that their legal needs are met with the utmost professionalism and diligence.
Esther’s expertise covers a wide array of employment matters including, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Prospective employment matters, including discrimination and contract reviews.
- Apprenticeships and traineeships.
- Worker probation periods.
- Worker classification and volunteer classification.
- Award and enterprise bargaining agreement analysis.
- Workplace safety including areas of workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, workplace environments hostile on the ground of sex, workplace bullying, victimisation and vicarious liability.
- Ill and injured workers including fitness/capacity to work and temporary
absence from work. - Disciplinary matters including performance management plans, writing
allegations and responding to allegations. - Termination of employment matters including unfair dismissal, general
protections and redundancy. - Post-employment legal restraints.
Esther possesses a rich and varied academic background. She earned a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degree (majoring in Politics and International Relations with a minor in Social Justice) from the University of Notre Dame, Australia. She expanded her scholastic perspectives by opting to pursue studies in a range of geographical locations such as London, Ontario in Canada, Phnom Penh in Cambodia, and Broome in Australia, in complement to her core studies in Fremantle, Australia.
Prior to her professional commitments, Esther volunteered extensively including at community legal centres where she addressed issues pertaining to mental health law and consumer law.
